GENERAL SUMMARY

Inspects manufacturing assemblies for conformity to standards, specifications, and processing requirements. Inspects for proper identity and dimensions using such measuring devices as micrometers, gauges, and calipers. Visually inspects for obvious defects or damage such as corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits. Verifies specifications using blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists. Makes pass fail decisions on inspected goods. Maintains records of results. Inspections may involve compound angles or three dimensional projections using inspection using inspection equipment such as microscope, micrometers, telescope gauges, and optical comparators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Personally perform inspection/testing on products/materials.
• Personally perform first article inspections, functional test inspections.
• Capable of documenting and communicating discrepancies in a definitive manner, to support the final engineering disposition of the non-conformances.
• Capable of extracting required data from the computer systems to assist the inspection process from reduced dimensioned drawing system.
• Capable of interfacing with all levels of management, suppliers, and the FAA.
• Proficient in computer usage to include Microsoft windows products, SAP experience desired.
• Maintain all inspection equipment calibration and maintenance requirements in accordance with ISO 9000 standards.
• Provide and coordinate all necessary inspection training to all levels of the business.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required:

• 5 years of experience in aerospace Quality Assurance, two of which have been in an inspection role.
• Must have hands-on inspection experience with mechanical components.
• Advanced skill in blueprint reading to include tolerancing and ANSI Y14.5 geometric dimensioning.
• Experienced with micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, indicators and surface gauges.

Preferred

• BS in Engineering or related field

This is an individual contributor role without supervisory responsibilities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / REQUIREMENTS

Work requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing and walking in production facility, lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment kits and product cases. Other physical demands include climbing, crouching, and reaching.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Plans, organizes, directs and reports on all supplier quality-related activities in cooperation with the supply chain organization. Participates in the cross functional commodity management team. Communicates engineering, manufacturing and quality requirements to the assigned suppliers. Assures that customer quality-imposed technical requirements are adhered to by supplier and that a quality system is maintained. Conducts programs designed to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. Prepares, maintains and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer requirements. Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports, non-conforming reports and purchase orders in an effort to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities, and maintains feedback loops.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Work cross functionally with EAI engineering, supply chain, quality organizations to ensure that the supplier understands and can comply with the technical, capacity, quality and FAA imposed requirements
• Review and direct the supplier’s manufacturing, engineering and quality teams to ensure the supplier’s product conforms to all of the requirements
• Participate with the supply chain organization in selecting and qualifying suppliers
• Direct the supplier in continuing performance improvement programs
• Perform and/or participate in Supplier certification, business and product audits consistent with AS9100 requirements
• Work with the supplier to ensure conformity and to issue a Statement of Conformity (8130-9) sufficient to submit and conformed product and documentation package to the FAA or its designee for Airworthiness Approval Tag (8130-3)
• Resolve technical, manufacturing, quality issues with the supplier and coordinate such with the appropriate EAI organizations
• Participate with the supplier in design for manufacturing reviews and represent supplier’s input within EAI to ensure optimal design for manufacturing solutions
• Perform Run at Rate, capacity analysis
• Perform First Article Inspection and ongoing product inspections
• Participate with Supply Chain in supplier contract review and contract administration for those areas regarding supplier quality
• Resolve supplier quality issues, working cross functionally as required
• Travel to supplier and sub-tier supplier locations as required
• Assist with the qualification and approval of new suppliers and maintain a list of approved suppliers

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required:

• Experience with aerospace major structures
• Candidate should have experience in areas related to quality systems management, material review, corrective action, and project management
• Experience using statistical inspection and auditing methods
• The incumbent will be responsible for helping to develop the Supplier Quality Assurance program and to make sure the best suppliers are in place to drive the best quality products and practices
• Knowledgeable in FAR part 21.33, 8110.4, 8120.2, 8100.7 requirements and orders

Preferred:

• Aerospace Supplier Quality Assurance experience, at least 5 years of which were in a Supplier Quality Engineering/Auditing capacity
• Training and/or experience in team building and continuous improvement processes (i.e. Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)
• Engineering degree
• ASQ Certifications in the areas of Auditing, Quality Engineer, Quality Process
